Deborah Slaughter aged 45 of Ionia, passed away August 6, 2008.

She was born May 27, 1963 in Deckerville, Mich., the daughter on Phillip and 
Bernice (Nichol) DeLong. She married Bruce Slaughter December 22, 1990 in 
Belleville, Mich. He preceded her in death in 2001. Deborah was a member of 
Shiloh Community Church. She taught at Ionia High schools Heartland Program and 
child development. Deborah was also a MEA member.

She is survived by her father Phillip (Cathy) DeLong of Canton, and mother 
Bernice (Bill) Zerbst of Livonia; and her loving children at home Arianne and 
Mariah Slaughter of Ionia; brother James DeLong of Wayne; mother-in-law, Jean 
Slaughter of Lansing; sisters-in-law, Dawn DeLong of Howell and Elaine (Cal) 
Heron of China; brother-in-law, Steve Slaughter of Ionia; and several nieces 
and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brother Steve DeLong in 1999, grandparents Lyle 
and Freda DeLong, and sister-in-law, Tina in 2005.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Community Church with 
Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment at Balcom Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends and relatives 1-9 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Funeral Home in 
Ionia. In lieu of flowers you may make contributions to Deborah’s Daughters
