Slayton, 84, of 414 LeVac drive, Belding, died Monday noon at Blodgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids, following a short illness. Born in Smyrna April 25, 1890, he was the son of Austin and Nancel Church Slayton, pioneer residents of Otisco township. He was a retired bank examiner for the Reconstruction Finance Corporation and former assistant cashier at the American State Bank of Detroit. He was a member of the Belding United Methodist church and life member of the Lowell F & AM lodge. October 21, 1914, he was married to Irene Heylauff of Lowell and she survives as do a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Martin of Kentwood and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 om at the Charles M. Courser funeral home of Belding, Rev. Eugene Lewis will officiate and interment will be at River Ridge cemetery, Belding. Visitation at the funeral home are Wednesday from 1 to 4 pm and 7 to 8:30 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and the family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 pm.
