Sleder, 69, of 201 South Barry street, Greenville, died suddenly about 6:30 Saturday evening at the Ionia free fair. He was a sales tax examiner for Michigan department of revenue and had just finished checking sales tax returns at concessions at the Ionia fair when he collapsed. Mr. Sleder was born January [unreadable] 1894 at Traverse City and had resided at Iron Mountain before moving to Greenville eight and one half years ago. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church at Iron Mountain and was a life member of Iron Mountain Lodge 388 F&AM, Traverse City Chapter 102 RAM and Iron Mountain Commandary 57 Knights Templar. He was a member of Saladin Shrine of Grand Rapids and past commander of Bowen Holliday Post 35 American Legion of Traverse City. Surviving are his wife, Henrietta to whom he was married September 26, 1923; a daughter, Mrs. Frank Masson of Minomonee Falls, Wis.; two sons, Frederic K. Sleder of Detroit, and Eduard H. Sleder of Ionia; two sisters, four brothers, and two grandsons. Funeral service will be at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon at Hoffman funeral home in Greenville, and at Traverse City Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Hibbard funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery at Traverse City.
