Lorraine Marie Slocum, 79, Ionia, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2005.

She was born on May 18, 1925 in Ionia, the daughter of Herbert and Ila 
(Doolittle) Hillard.  Mrs. Slocum was a member of First Baptist Church of 
Ionia.  Lorraine loved family gatherings and enjoyed crafts and camping.  She 
was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Kenneth Boroff; second 
husband, Quenton “Wimp” Slocum; sons, Quenton Slocum, Jr. and Terry Boroff; 
sisters, Viola, Lenora and Helen Ilene; son-in-law, Walter Orwig; 
grandchildren, Leona Stevens, Whitney Stevens and Troy Towner.

Surviving are her children, John and Sue Slocum, Bruce and Kay Boroff, Ila 
Orwig, Lori and Robert Chambless, Keith and Jean Boroff and Anne and Andy 
Munschy; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 
brothers and sisters, Clarence Hillard of Bellevue, Donald and Audrey Dukes of 
Crystal, Ronald and Shirley Dukes of Stanton, Dagmar Smith of Bellevue and 
Vivian and Clair Overley of Lake.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. James Bennett, Pastor at 11 a.m. 
Saturday at First Baptist Church of Ionia.

Private family interment will take place in Balcom Cemetery.  The family will 
receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Ionia from 2 p.m. to 4 
p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist 
Church, in memory of Mrs. Lorraine M. Slocum.
