Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

Archie Eugene “Gene” Slocum, 73, of Potterville, formerly of Belding and 
Cadillac, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, in Lansing.

He retired as head custodian at Belding Public Schools and served in the U.S. 
Army during the Korean Conflict.  He attended Potterville Church of the 
Nazarene.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara; sons, Stephen, Keven, Keith 
all of Belding and Mark (Toni) of Potterville; 16 grandchildren, brother, 
Howard (Renee) Slocum; and sister Helen Snell all of Cadillac.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at Holihan-Atkin Funeral Home, 
Grand Ledge, Rev. Kirk Starkweather officiating.  Interment Benton Township 
Cemetery.  Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday.  
Memorial contributions may be made to Potterville Church of the Nazarene.
