The Ionia County News, Thursday, May 30, 1929
Mrs. H. B. Slocum died at her home in Hubbardston Monday evening after several 
weeks illness, during which every thing possible was done to prolong her life.

Laura Adele Wood was born in Orleans Dec. 6, 1852, in 1873 she was married to 
H. B. Slocum; they lived in Greenville until 32 years ago when they came to 
Hubbardston, and have resided at Hubbardston since that time.

Besides the husband she leaves a son Henry Slocum, and a daughter, Mrs. Anna 
Clark, both of Hubbardston, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 
also two sisters, Anna Wood, of Greenville, Mrs. Mary Robertson of Ionia, a 
brother, John Wood, of Woods Corners.  

Funeral services at the house Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock.  Burial in West 
side cemetery.
