LAKE ODESSA-  Shirley D. Slocum, 87, of Route I, Woodland, died April 22 at the 
Barry County Medical Care Facility in Hastings.

A retired farmer, he was born in Carlton township, Barry County, Feb. 7, 1896, 
the son of Adelbert and Jennie Williams Slocum.

He attended Martin Corners rural school. He was married to Artie Aspinall, Nov. 
2, 1914, in Castleton Township, Barry County and was a member of the Woodland 
United Methodist Church and of the Farm Bureau.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Karrer and Mrs. Dorothy 
Karrer, both of Hastings; one son, Garth, of Nashville; 11 grandchildren, 24 
great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Pickens-Koops Funeral 
Chapel, with burial in Woodland Memorial Park.

A  memorial for the Michigan Heart Association has been established in the care 
of the funeral home.
