Ionia Daily Standard - Wed. Jan. 8, 1919

Mrs. Minnie Slowinski, wife of Daniel Slowinski of Berlin Township, died at the 
home on Wednesday morning at nine o’clock, from influenza at the age of thirty-
nine years. She leaves to mourn her death, besides her husband, eleven children 
from three days to fifteen years old. The funeral will be held at the Church of 
SS. Peter & Paul, but will be private – that is, none but immediate relatives 
will attend. The time will be Friday morning at ten o’clock. Other members of 
this family are also down with the disease, and there is a great deal of it in 
the near vicinity, one house having fourteen cases, and another, nine. Most of 
these cases have resulted since a Christmas tree celebration, most of the 
patients being related. One other death, being in the family of Henry Darnell, 
occurred today also.
