Peter and Paul this morning at 10 o’clock for the funeral service. The church was filled with those who during his life had learned to love and highly respect Mr. Slowinski as their friend. The funeral Mass was given by Rev. Fr. H. D. McCarthy, Rev. Fr. Schneider, of Fowler, and Rev. Fr. Bart O’Sheck, of Grand Rapids. The sermon was preached by Rev. Fr. McCarthy, who read as his text Prov. 27:1, “Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” In speaking of the death of Mr. Slowinski, Rev. Fr. McCarthy said the accident occurred as this good man, one of the most faithful and loyal members of the parish, was on the way with his wife, daughter, and son to attend church. Mr. Slowinski was a man who was always loyal, just, and true to his God and Creator. He believed in the words of the Heavenly Father when he told the people to be prepared to meet their Creator, for they know not the hour the Son of Man shall come or they shall be called to meet Him. Mr. Slowinski was a man who was loyal to his church and the community in which he lived. He was always willing to help those in need. Though Mr. Slowinski was blessed with this world’s goods, he was a man who thought of the hereafter and was trying to live a noble, Christian life. There was not a Sunday which was too stormy to keep him away from the church where he could worship his Creator. “I know,” said Rev. Fr. McCarthy in closing, “that if the mortal lips of this father could speak he would warn us to be prepared to meet our Heavenly Father.” The remains were borne to their final resting place in Mt. Olivet cemetery by Frank Grescoviak, Leo Fialkowski, Frank Mileski, Dan Slowinski, Michael Slowinski, and Theodore Slowinski. The beautiful floral testimonials showed the high respect in which Mr. Slowinski was held by all who knew him.
