The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, August 9, 1960


Mrs. Ruth M. Slowinski, 52, 562 State street, died Monday morning in Battle 
Creek Community hospital following a two week illness.

Mrs. Slowinski was born at Big Rapids January 8, 1908, the daughter of 
Alexander and Mary Krieger Marcassen, and came to Ionia with her family at the 
age of eight years.  She had spent the remainder of her life here.

She was a graduate of SS. Peter and Paul academy and Ionia County Normal, and 
taught in Ionia county schools and SS. Peter and Paul school.  At the time of 
her death Mrs. Slowinski was assistant librarian at the Hall-Fowler Library in 
Ionia.

She was married to George Slowinski in Ionia August 20 1934.  Mrs. Slowinski 
was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church, and St. Bernadette Rosary circle.

Besides her husband she is survived by a son, George Jr., and one daughter, 
Karen.

Rosary will be recited at Myers funeral home Wednesday at 730 p.m.  Funeral 
mass will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul church with interment at 
Mt. Olivet cemetery.
