Ionia Shopper's Guild - Saturday March 2, 2024

              SLOWINSKI

Owen W."Mort" Slowinski age 80 of Ionia passed away February 26, 2024. He was 
born on April 24, 1943 at his home in Ionia, Michigan the son of Frederick and 
Alice (George) Slowinski. Mort married his love, Mary Rinker April 30, 1966 at 
SS.Peter & Paul Catholic Church in ionia, where he was a member.

Mort managed Bertha Brock Park for 25 years.He also worked for the City of Ionia 
as a Firefighter and would later own and operate R & M Fire Extinguisher before 
retiring. Mort was a true outdoorsman.His passions included trapping, hunting, 
fishing and trap & skeet shooting. Mort was a member of  the Ionia County 
fishing and Hunting club for many years.

Mort and Mary enjoyed many years at their cottage on Long Lake pontooning and 
entertaining family & friends.

Surviving are his wife Mary Slowinski of Ionia. Sister-in-law Barbara Slowinski 
of Canadian Lakes, Brother-in-law Ronald Rinker of Los Angeles,CA. Niece Cris 
(Steve) Bush. Nephews Dan (JJ) Slowinski, Eric(Mary) Slowinski and Peter (Sarah)  
Riker & many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Alice, brother Alan Slowinski, 
brother-in-law Richard Rinker and sister-in-law Patricia Rinker.

Honoring Mort's wishes. Cremation has taken place and no formal services will be 
held. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
