Slowinski, 55, assistant superintendent of Industrial Metal Products, Inc., of Lansing, and a former Ionian, died early Monday morning at his Lansing residence after a long illness. He had been ill with a heart ailment. Slowinski, an Ionia high school graduate, was a star athlete here in the mid 1920’s taking part in football, baseball and basketball as well as weights in track. He had been a resident of Lansing for 35 years after leaving Ionia. He was married to the former Esther Hacker of Ionia, who survives. Slowinski was a past exalter ruler of the Lansing Elks as well as a life member. He belonged to the Lansing Rod and gun club and the Ionia county Fishing and Hunting club. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran church of Lansing and the Industrial Executives club. Funeral services are to be conducted at Lansing Wednesday. Lansing Lodge 196 BPOE will give its service at 2:30 p.m. and additional services will follow at the Bethlehem Lutheran church. Past exalted rulers of the Elks will conduct the initial rites and the Rev. Walter Koepplin will officiate at the church. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Survivors, besides Mrs. Slowinski, are a son Phillip at home; a daughter, Mrs. Jack R. Kuney of Lansing; a foster daughter, Mrs. A. J. Adams of Eaton Rapids; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Purdy of Ionia, and a sister, Mrs. Stanley Diehl of Lansing.
