Slowinski, 49, died suddenly at his home Tuesday evening. He was born November 19, 1917 in Berlin township, rural Lake Odessa and was the son of Daniel and Minnie Lehman Slowinski. On May 17, 1947 he married Agnes Droste of Pewamo and they came to Lake Odessa from a farm 14 years ago. Mr. Slowinski was employed by City Service oil company 13 years and later was employed in Grand Ledge as a steel worker for Roberts corporation. A veteran of World War II, serving over four years in the U.S. army in Europe and Africa, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife, Agnes, two sons, Dennis and Robert and two daughters, Yvonne and Kay Ann at home; four sisters, Mrs. Fred Gazalla of Grand Rapids, Florence Slowinski of Alpena, Mrs. George Mitchell of Ionia and Mrs. Edward Sarlouis of Lake Odessa; five brothers, Donald Slowins of Portland, Frank Slowinski of Jackson, John Slowinski and Eugene Slowinski of Grand Rapids and Wilson Slowinski of Ionia. A rosary will be recited at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa Thursday at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at St. Edwards church at 10 a.m. Friday with Fr. Raymond Moeggenberg officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery.
