Mrs. Hattie E. Sly, 73, a resident of Ionia for about 35 years, died at her home at

1082 West Main street Tuesday evening. December 21, at 6:30 o'clock following an 
illness of the past year.

She was the daughter of Elizabeth and Lafayette Selleck and was born in New York 
State March 4, 1864. In the year 1883 she was married to William S. Sly in Orleans 
township at the home of her parents. They resided after their marriage on a farm in

Ronald township until 35 years ago, when they made their home in Ionia on West Main

street. She was a member of the Church of Christ. November 14, ____ Mr. and Mrs. Sly

celebrated their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary.

Survivors are her husband, five _____, Mrs. Ida Owen, of South _____, Mrs. Hattie 
Higbee, of Ionia; _____ Dildine, of Maryville, Mo. Mrs. Howard Hammond, of _____, 
Ill. and Mrs. William Reed, of Macedon, New York, and for nephews, William Cotton 
and Lewis Selleck, of Ionia; Charles Selleck of Shiloh, and Earl Selleck of 
Charlotte Harbor, Fla. 

Funeral services will be held from the home Friday afternoon. December 24, at 2 
o'clock with Rev. C.A. Brady pastor of the Church of Christ officiating.
