Sherron L. Smalley, 63, of Portland passed away March 10, 2011. She was born 
Jan. 25, 1948 in Greenville, the daughter of Daniel and Lilian (Hughes) 
Blanding II. Sherron married Lester Smalley April 7, 1967 in Greenville. She 
used to attend St. Paul Episcopal Church in Greenville and later Ionia Church 
of the Nazarene. She worked in a group home in Grand Ledge and later did some 
in home care. Sherron also worked a Rite Aid in Portland for 10 years. Her 
favorite thing in life was her family, being a wife, mother and grandmother.

Sherron is survived by her loving husband of almost 43 years, Lester Smalley of 
Portland; children, Scott (Tracy) Smalley of Saranac, Mark (Katie) Smalley of 
Ionia and Lisa Smalley of Grand Rapids; brothers, Daniel (Beverly) Blanding III 
of Lyons, Alan (Nancy) Blanding of Sheridan, Les (Maggee) Blanding of England 
and Bruce Wittcopp of Greenville; sisters Vicky (Tom) Pylman of Byron Center 
and Tammy (Joe) Ritter of Sydney; grandchildren, Luke Smalley, Rachel Smalley, 
Kevin Smalley, Matthew Smalley, David Smalley and Elizabeth Smalley.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Jeanette Blanding.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Ionia Church of the 
Nazarene with Pastor Kirk Starkweather officiating. Visitation will be held 4 
to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
