MRS. ALVIN SMELKER DIES

Mrs. Alvin Smelker, 63, wife of a former Barry County Clerk, died unexpectedly 
on Tuesday of last week at Pennock hospital where she was taken after being 
stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage at noon. She was a member of the Home 
Economics club and the Irving farm bureau.

Born in Sunfield, she was a resident of Barry county for 36 years Her husband 
Alvin was junior member of the Smelker Bros. Drug store firm here for about five 
years some forty years ago.

Surviving are the husband, a sister, Mrs.Della Smith of Charlotte, and a 
brother, William Briggs, Lake Odessa.

Funeral services were held at the Leonard funeral home in Hastings Friday 
afternoon and burial was in Lakeside cemetery here.
