JASON SMIT 1979-2017
Jason J. Smit age 37 of Saranac, MI passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 
2017. He was born Nov. 19. 1979 in Belding, MI the son of Jack and Carol 
(Rood) Smit. He married Amy Elderkin on July 17, 2015 in Ionia.

Jason is survived by his wife, Amy Smit of Saranac; parents, Jack (Barb) Smit 
of Saranac, Carol (Barry) Dyer of Greenvile; children, Alexis Smit (Bryce 
Fisher) of Saranac, Mariah Smit of Grand Rapids, Jacob Smit of Saranac; step-
children, Samantha Elderkin of Saranac, Jordan Elderkin of Grand Rapids, 
Devan Elderkin of Grand Rapids, Zachary Dodd of Saranac, Skylar Dodd of 
Saranac; brothers, Jeff (Cassie) Smit of Rockford,Timothy Smit of Saranac, 
Jace Smit of Saranac, Preston Smit of Saranac, Michael Dyer of New York, 
Thomas Dyer of Greenville; sisters,Amber (Josh) Perry of Lowell, Chloe Smit 
of Saranac, Lakirah Smit of Saranac, Melissa Lopez of Cedar Springs, Lisa 
Dyer and Brian Muszynski of New York; step-brothers, Curtis Richards of 
Saranac, Cory Richards of Saranac; step-sisters, Christine (Jeff) Johnson of 
Saranac, Casey (Jr)Smith of Saranac; grandparents, Donna Smit of Saranac, 
Shirley Rood of Lowell; granddaughter, Harper Richards of Saranac, many, many 
nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 28 at St. Mary's 
Catholic Cemetery in Lowell. All are welcome to attend. There will be a 
celebration of Jason's life following the service at 1418 Riggle Road, 
Saranac.

Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Saranac Youth Football or 
Lowell Youth Wrestling. Arrangements made by Lake Funeral Home of Saranac.
