Ionia Sentinel, 20 Jan 1971

Harold L. Smith, 70, of rural Lake Odessa, died at his home at 9331 East Brown 
road Tuesday following a short illness.

Born in Barry county, July 7, 1900, he was the son of John and Louisa Gerlinger 
Smith.  He was a graduate of Woodland high school.

April 7, 1928, he was married to Martha V. Hynes.  A member of Lakewood United 
Methodist church he also belonged to the Farm Bureau and was a school bus 
driver before retiring several years ago.

Surviving are his wife, Martha; daughter, Mrs. LaVerne Jackson of Lake Odessa, 
and one grandson; one sister, Mrs. Laura Statsick of Lake Odessa.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake 
Odessa.  Interment will be at Woodland Memorial park.
