Ionia Sentinel, 19 Nov 1928

Mrs. Helen Smith, 78, died at her home in Easton township Sunday evening at 10 
o’clock after an illness lasting several weeks.  The funeral services will be 
held from her home on West Yeoman’s street in Easton township Wednesday 
afternoon.  Rev. H. S. Ellis, of Belding, will be in charge of the services.  
Burial will take place in the Higbee cemetery in Easton.

Mrs. Smith was born in New York and came to Michigan with her parents when a 
child of 10.  her parents settled in Ionia county and this vicinity has been 
her home since.  Her husband died in 1890.

Surviving her are 11 children:  Mrs. William Rowley, of Orleans; Mrs. Edna 
Bluemly, of Grand Rapids; Mrs. Ella Cutler, of Saranac; Mrs. Bertha Deline, of 
Belding; Miss Jennie Smith, of Orleans; Mrs. Hattie Tingley, of Prairie Creek; 
Mrs. Verne Robert, of Easton; Mrs. Mary Dumper, of Ionia; William R. Smith, of 
Grand Rapids; Wesley H. Smith, of Howell, and Warren J. Smith, of Detroit.  She 
also leaves 23 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
