Ionia Sentinel, 21 Jul 1959

Service for Herbert L. Smith, 89, who died Wednesday at Ionia County Memorial 
hospital, was held Saturday, July 18, at the Stone, Kauffman funeral home.  The 
Rev. Heath T. Goodwin, pastor of the First Methodist church, officiated.

Bearers were Milton Smith, Jr., Leslie Smith, Theodore Strickland, Edward 
Brown, Elwin Brown and Robert Brown.  Interment was at Woodard Lake cemetery.

Relatives and friends attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Leach 
of Port Huron, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Moody of Grandville, Mrs. Carl Gardner of 
Mason, Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Grover, Mrs. F. G. Benedict, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin 
Coon, Edwin Benedict and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Strickland of Lansing; Mrs. Ambrose 
Smith of Palo, Mrs. Flora Wetherbee of Grand Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Higbee 
and Mrs. Bernice Worden of Belding; Mr. and Mrs. Carol Smith of Greenville  and 
Vivian Lily Benedict of Byron Center.
