Portland Observer, 13 Feb 1936

Mrs. Erlo Smith, 48 years of age, died at 7:30 Wednesday evening at University 
hospital, Ann Arbor, where she had been taken that morning for treatment for a 
throat ailment.  She had been ill several days and Wednesday morning her 
condition had become so grave that her local physician advised her removal to the 
hospital where throat specialists could give her attention.  Before her marriage 
to Mr. Smith she was Mabel Tracy.  Besides the husband she is survived by one 
son, George Smith, of Portland.  At the time of going to press funeral 
arrangements were still pending.
