Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Smith, 73, died Thursday morning after several weeks of 
illness following a stroke.  She was born at Chantham, Ontario, February 15, 
1867, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Overstreet.  She came to the United 
States when she was 18 years old and made her home in Owosso.  At the age of 
27 she married Peyton Smith of Owosso.  He died eight years later at their 
home in Albion.  After his death, she moved to Ionia and has been here ever 
since.  She was a member of the Ionia Latter Day Saints church on State Street.

Surviving is one daughter, Charlotte M. Smith, who is well known in Ionia 
music circles.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Stone funeral home 
on East Washington Street.  Interment will be held at Highland Park cemetery
