Ionia County News, 31 Jul 1924

Mrs. Cornelia M. Smith, widow of Ozem Smith, died at the home of her daughter, 
Mrs. David Dilley, Friday forenoon at the age of 83.  Funeral services were 
held at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon, Rev. J. H. Bancroft officiating, and 
burial was in Portland cemetery.

She was born in Oakland county August 5, 1841, and was only 18 years old when 
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson, moved to Orange.  At the age of 25 she 
married Mr. Smith, who died several years ago.

The surviving children are J. Frank Smith, Ovid, and Mrs. David Dilley, 
Portland.  Brothers and sisters are Ambrose, Adelbert and Glenn Nicholson, Mrs. 
Emily Kinney, Mrs. Saul Keefer, Mrs. Harriet Goodrich, Mrs. Carrie Benedict, 
the latter of Detroit.
