Ionia Sentinel, 13 Dec 1882

The funeral of Mrs. Kittie Smith, youngest daughter of Josiah Dilley, was 
attended at her father’s house this morning.  Just eleven months ago she was 
married to John R. Smith of this village, Rev. A.E. Mather officiating.  Last 
spring she contracted a severe cold which resulted in consumption, and she with 
her husband and brother went west as the only hope of recovery.  Her remains 
arrived here on Monday, and today Rev. W. Mather officiated at her funeral.  The 
event, though expected, is much lamented.
