Ionia County News, 22 Oct 1953

Leon V. Smith, 60, died in Pontiac General Hospital, Wednesday, Oct 21.  He had 
been living at 20900 West Eight Mile Rd., Detroit, and working in that city.  
When he became ill he entered the University Hospital, Ann Arbor, but was 
transferred to the Pontiac hospital a short time before his death.

He is survived by his father, Frederick W. Smith, of Ionia; a brother, Charles, 
of Grand Rapids, and a son, Vernie, with the U.S. forces in Alaska.

Rev. W.W. Pixley will officiate at the funeral service which will be held from 
Myers Funeral Home at 2:00 o’clock Friday afternoon.  Burial will be in Balcom 
Cemetery.
