The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, June 29, 1987

Ida Kunzi Smith, 90, formerly of Ionia, died Wednesday in Ionia after a long 
illness.  She was born April 16, 1897, in North Plains Township, the daughter 
of Theodore and Althia Sturgis Gilboe.  She was a graduate of Hubbardston High 
School, and was married to Frank Kunzi in 1917; he preceded her in death in 
1954.  She married Bernard Smith in 1960; he preceded her in death in 1978.  
She was retired from the Mitchell-Bentley Corporation in 1961.

Surviving are two stepsons, Michael and Frederick Smith, both of Ionia; one 
daughter, Norene Miller of Pewamo; five step-daughters, Carolyn Wirth of 
Westphalia, Dorothea Kelley of Ionia, Donna Hubbard of Schoolcraft, Pat Baker 
of Lyons, and Ernestine Root of Portland; one sister, Nina Allen of Ionia; 24 
grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren.  Two sons and two sisters preceded her 
in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Hull Memorial Chapel, the Rev. 
Valerie Hill of Hillsdale officiating.  Burial was in Muir Cemetery.
