Portland Observer, Thursday, December 24, 1936

Edward O. Smith, 52, well known in this vicinity, died last week at Plymouth, 
Ind., where he had been residing for some time.  The body was brought to 
Portland and funeral services held Monday afternoon at the Bandfield chapel.

Mr. Smith was the son of Mrs. Ada Smith Hinds and the late A. G. Smith.  He 
was born on a farm just west of Maple Corners and resided in this community 
until he went to Indiana several years ago.
