Rev. Stewart, of Portland, conducted the services. The burial took place in the family lot in the Danby cemetery. Mrs. Smith, who as Miss Rebecca Brickley, came to Michigan with her parents from Royalton, N.Y., when a girl of 18, has lived in Ionia county ever since, and has lived in Danby 22 years. She was 72 years old at the time of her death. Her sudden death cast the entire community of Danby into gloom, for she was universally loved. Her husband and she were alone Thursday evening when she was taken violently ill with heart trouble, having suffered similar spells. She only lived a hour after she was taken ill. She was an active member of the Danby Methodist Church society, and had been active in the capacity of a church member. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Walter, of Trout Creek; Claude, of Detroit; Harry, who lives on the home farm, and Mrs. Milo Smith, of Danby; also two brothers, W. F. and Warren Brickley, both of Orange township. Danby neighbors acted as bearers. They were William Rice, William Prior, Henry Morse and E. B. Reed.
