Smith, and daughter of S. J. Wright, of Ionia, was suddenly called to try the realities of that awful eternity from whence no traveler hath returned. Lizzie was born May 4th, 1843, in Norwich, Oxford Co., Canada West. At the age of six years, by the unfeeling hand of death, she lost that dearest earthly friend, a mother. Came to Ionia in the fall of 1857, and the following spring was converted to God and joined the M. E. Church, under the labors of Rev. Thomas Lyon. She was married Jan. 10, 1865, and summoned in but little more than one short year, to bid adieu to all things earthly. Lizzie was an earnest laborer in the Sabbath School, a faithful teacher, gentle in manner, patient in spirit, and esteemed by all who knew her. A loved sister, daughter and wife has preceded us to the other shore; but we trust that our loss is her infinite gain. Earth’s sufferings with her are over, and with that happy number she sleeps in Jesus - “In her lot and place, until the end of the days.” Unconsciously she entered the valley of the shadow, yet she has left many cheering evidences that for her to die was gain.
