The Ionia County Shopper’s Guide, Saturday, January 10, 2004

Delbert Thomas Smith, age 88, of Ionia formerly of Traverse City, peacefully 
passed away on Friday, January 2, 2004, at the home of his daughter and son-in-
law in Ionia, MI.  Survivors include his loving wife of sixty three years, 
Phyllis Smith; daughter and son-in-law Kenneth and Letitia (Tish) Sweet of 
Ionia; daughter Valery (Corner) Whipkey of Orleans; three grandsons, Kenneth 
(Teresa) Sweet Jr., Kevin (Vicki) Sweet, Brian (Kelli) Corner; granddaughter 
Kim (Jim) Beattie; 4 great-grandsons and 4 great-granddaughters.  Following 
Mr. Smith’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.  
Arrangements made by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  Cards of condolences may be 
sent to the family at 827 W. Washington St. Ionia, MI  48846.
