The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, February 11, 1941

Mary Boltz Smith, 77, died at the home of her sister Emma Strachan, in North 
Plains township Monday morning.  She was the daughter of the late John and 
Mary Boltz of Ionia county and had lived in Michigan since 1875.  She was 
married to Merton Smith of Jackson in 1902 and lived in that city for several 
years.  Following Mr. Smith’s death she lived on the homestead for about 
twenty-five years and then lived with her brother, John Smith, for nine years.

Surviving are three brothers, John, Fred and Archie, and two sisters, Mrs. 
Sadie Haynes and Mrs. Strachan.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the home of Mrs. 
Strachan.  Interment will be held at Highland Park cemetery.
