Smith, 70, Lansing attorney and retired administrative law judge of the Michigan Employment Security Commission, died Saturday at his home at 330 Clarendon road, East Lansing. He was a native Ionian, graduating from Ionia high school. His mother was Ionia city librarian for many years before her death. He was a member of the State Bar of Michigan, American and Ingham county bar associations, member of the Masonic Lodge No. 36 F&AM of Ionia, Moslem Temple, Detroit, Scottish Rite, National Sojourners Capital Caravan club and the Ionia Elks. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Retired Officers Association. Mr. Smith was married to the former Rachel F. Faude of Ionia. Other survivors include a stepson Philip F. Wood of Ada and a stepdaughter, Ann Annis of Cadillac. Services are to be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Gorsline-Runciman East Chapel of Lansing.
