The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, March 8, 1954
Mrs. Nellie E. Smith, 68, of Johnson road in Orleans township died suddenly 
Monday morning, Dale Kauffman, coroner, reports.  Widow of George C. Smith, 
she suffered a heart attack at her home.  She lies at the Huffman funeral 
home, Belding.

Subsequent Publication:  The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, March 9, 
1954

Funeral service for Mrs. Nellie E. Smith, 68, of Johnson road in Orleans 
township, who died Monday will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Huffman 
chapel, Belding.  Burial will follow at Orleans cemetery.

Widow of the late George C. Smith, she had been a resident of Ionia county for 
10 years.  She was born at West Branch.

She is survived by four sons, Melvin of Belding route 2, Ivan of Ionia route 
3, Erwin of Hesperia, and Vernon of Flint; a sister, Mrs. Nora Houch of West 
Branch, and ten grandchildren.

Bearers will be Herbert Chickering, John Lambertson, Clarence Brooks, Forest 
Sage, Harold Woolridge and S. J. Bigler.
