He was born on May 27, 1978 the son of Peter and Linda (Platte) Smith. Pete was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo. He was a machine operator for the Mahle Corp. and enjoyed being an archery Bow technician, sharing his skills with his sons and brothers. Pete enjoyed hunting, playing in a fantasy football league and being an all around handyman, always tinkering with different projects. He was a source of information to anyone. Pete loved children always making them feel special through is actions and words. On May 17, 2003 he married his best friend, Katie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reynold and Irene Smith, Norman and Margie Platte and Bob Steere, along with several aunts and uncles. Surviving are his wife, Katie; sons, Kaleb and Mason; parents, Peter and Linda Smith; in-laws, Dave and Kristie Steere; siblings, Stephanie (Todd) Thelen, Corey (Robin), Joel (Amber), Matt (Kelli), Aaron “Hump” (Kristen), Damian (Malynda), Nate, Jordan and Gabe Smith; sisters-in-law, Becky (Nathan) Akin and Snannon Steere; brother-in-law, Jeremy (Tabby) Steere; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Charlon O. Mason at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. There will be NO visitation on Sunday. The family will receive fiends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the St. Mary’s Funeral Chapel, Westphalia. The rosary will be prayed at 3 and 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a Trust Fund for Pete’s boys. Arrangements are with Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home.
