Frank L. Smith, 86, of Saranac passes away June 19, 2011 in Grand Rapids. He 
was born April 21, 1925 in Grand Rapids, the son of Frank and Gertrude Smith.

He served in the Navy during World War II and was a past member of Saranac VFW. 
Frank married Beatrice DeWispelare April 28, 1951 in New York. He worked in 
security for GenCorp for 35 years until retiring in 1990.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Beatrice Smith of Saranac; 
children, Rich Smith of Ionia and Brenda Shoen of Ionia; five grandchildren; 
Kim, Amanda, Timmy, Sara and Rose; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dave Smith in 2008; and one 
sister, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac with Pastor John Prominski officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. 
Visitation will be held 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral 
home.
