Alma Dora Smith, 101, of Saranac, formerly of Carson City, passed away on 
Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011 at the Laurels of Kent in Lowell. She was born Dec. 19, 
1909 in Garretson, S.D., to Henry and Alma (Goeske) Bendt. She married Frank 
Smith in Nasua, Minn., on June 24, 1926.

Alma lived her younger years in South Dakota. After she married they moved to 
the Carson City area. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm.

Surviving are a son, Frank (Pauline) Smith of Grand Rapids; daughter Shirley 
(Fred) Erridge of Ionia; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many 
nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1984; four brothers and two 
sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 at the Lux and 
Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City, with Andy Croel officiating.

Visitation will begin one hour before the service at the Funeral Home. 
Interment will be in Spencer Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer 
Society.
