Olivet for interment. Mr. Smith lived here till about 18 years ago. He was an employee of the Pere Marquette for about 46 years. Subsequent Publication: Tuesday, May 11, 1920 The body of James Smith arrived this morning from Hartford, and was taken directly to Mt. Olivet for interment. Father McCarthy had charge of the service at the grave, and the bearers were F. M. Wirtz, T. A. Carten, E. F. Gallagher and Wm. McAlary. Mr. Smith was a machinist at the car shops about fifteen years ago, when he lived with his family on East Main street. For his long service for the Pere Marquette, about 46 years, he was pensioned and was living at Hartford at the time of his death, his wife and his three daughters living in Grand Rapids. He was sick only a few days before his death, which occurred about two months ago.
