He was born on November 5, 1915 in Pewamo, MI the son of Frank D. and Dora (Werner) Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo. Albert retired from the State of Michigan in 1981, and he enjoyed farming and woodworking. His greatest love was his grandchildren, and spending a lot of time at his cottage. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons, Thomas Albert and Stephen A. Smith; sisters, Julia Simon and Dorothy Wieber; brothers, Reynold Smith, Roman Smith and Carl Smith. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Smith of Pewamo; 4 children, Daniel Smith of Pewamo, Larry (Mary) Smith of Westphalia, Mike (Jodi) Smith of Montana and Karen (Mike) Pung of Westphalia; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Florence Halfmann; sister-in-laws, Adeline Smith and Mildred Smith; brother-in-law, Arnold Wieber. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by the Rev. Charlon O. Mason, Pastor March 31 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo. Rite of Committal followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Pewamo.
