State Road, Ionia, died Tuesday in Pontiac General Hospital in Pontiac, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Lyons, May 11, 1901, the daughter of Howard and Maude Millard Kimball. She taught school in Ionia County at the Loomis and Rather schools for 48 years before retiring. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Women’s Fellowship, and the Charity Group of the church. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and the Lucy Cull Guild. She is survived by her husband, Guy M. Smith, of Ionia; one daughter, Mrs. Vivian Wood of Pontiac; one sister, Mrs. Carle (Marian) Beck of Crystal, Mich.; two brothers, Henry Kimball of Cheboygan, Mich., and Floyd Kimball of Davison, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. from the Leddick Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Dow of the First Christian Church officiating.
