April 7, 1919 The funeral for Earl E. Smith was held at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith of Berlin Township, on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock. The music was furnished by Rev. John Youngs. Mrs. Youngs and John Youngs, Jr. The bearers were four brothers of the deceased, Robert, Otis Burr and Ward. The interment was in Saranac cemetery. Among the relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Owen Pennington and son, Grover, of Nashville, and Arthur Lambert, of Blanchard. The funeral was largely attended and the flowers were beautiful and profuse. (Friday, April 4, 1919) L.E. Smith, eighteen-year-old-son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith of Berlin Township died Friday morning at 9:30 at the home of his parents, from pneumonia. Besides his father and mother, he leaves four sisters and six brothers. The funeral will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, and the interment will be in the Saranac Cemetery.
