Emily I. Smith, age 66, of Saranac passed away Sept. 28, 2008 in Grand Rapids.

She was born July 24, 1942 in North Hampton, N.H. the daughter of Roy and 
Murial (Zahn) Fogg. Emily married James Smith, April 26, 1980.

Emily is survived by her loving husband of 28 years James Smith of Saranac; 
children, John (Denise) Smith of Oregon, Joan (Ron) VanAlstine of Westphalia, 
Roger (Sue) Smith of Florida, Sherry (Ed) Alverson of Wayland, Ken (Susan) 
Demute of Caledonia and Eric (Dawn) Demute of Wayland; brothers Emery (Nancy) 
Fogg of Wayland; sister Nancy (Jerry) Hansen of Grandville; 18 grandchildren++1 
on the way; 13 great-grandchildren and special friend, Gloria Hubbard of 
Saranac.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 3, 1 p.m. at Community of Christ 
Church in Alto, 8146 68th SE Alto, MI 49302 with Elder Robert Loesch 
officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday, 6-9 p.m. 
at the church. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home of Saranac. Online condolences
