Ionia Sentinel-Standard - Thurs. Sept. 29, 1994

ORLEANS- Hazel Norene Smith, 81, of Orleans, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1994, at 
the United Memorial Hospital, in Greenville.

She was born June 23, 1913, in Ionia, the daughter of William and Maude 
(Phelps) Gemuend. She was graduated from Ionia High School in 1929.

She married Marvin Smith.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Ionia and the Orleans 
United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by one daughter, Darla (Ronald) Harper of Orleans; two sons, 
Robert (Jan) Smith of Polson, Mich. and John Smith of Orleans; four 
grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986 and a brother Kenneth Gemuend 
in 1989.

There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. 
at the Huffman Funeral Home in Belding. The Rev. Kenneth Harger will officiate. 
Interment will be at the Orleans Cemetery.
