Smith, 73, of Belding, passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at home. She was born March 31, 1933, in Belding, the daughter of Benjamin and Ruby Eldridge Ward. She retired after 33 years of service at Frigidaire. Geraldine was a very special mom who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Geraldine was married Sept. 9, 1955, to Claude E. Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude, on Nov. 19, 1992; her parents; sons, Charles Smith, Eugene Smith; sisters, Mabel Bunce, Catherine “Katie” Shindorf, Evelyn Williams; and brother, Kenneth Douglas. Geraldine is survived by her children, Karen and Floyd Wireman, Daryl Smith, all of Belding, Sharon and Mike Miller of Cedar Springs, Catherine and Ronald Devereaux of Belding, Norman and Trudy Smith of Long Lake; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jerry and Carol Ward of Belding, Harold Douglas of Barryton. Graveside funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Greene Cemetery with Pastor Byron Davey of First Congregational Church, Belding, officiating. No visitation will take place. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding, is in charge of arrangements.
