Smith, aged 71, died Tuesday in Blodgett hospital where he had been a patient for the past 11 days. Born Feb. 4, 1892 in Louisville, Ky., Mr. Smith had been in business here since 1943. He was co-owner of the firm of Heliker and Smith of Cooks Corners and was a roofing contractor. In 1958 he was married to Lillian Hull who survives. They resided at Cooks Corners. Mr. Smith was a past Worshipful Master of Belding Lodge 355 F & AM; a past president of Belding Lodge 355 F & AM Past Master Club; a member of Doric Chapter 75 OES and a member of the First Congregational church, Belding. Besides his wife, he is survived by one sister, Miss Mary Smith of Belding; one brother, Leslie A. Smith of South Lyons; one step daughter, Mrs. Victor Nichoson of Belding; two stepsons, Marvin Hull of Livonia and Edsel Hull of Belding; seven step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 11 a.m. at the Huffman Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Rebentisch of the First Congregational church and Belding Lodge 355 F & AM officiating. The body will be removed to McAfee Funeral Home in Buechel, Kentucky for services on Saturday with burial in Rest Haven cemetery, Beuchel, Ky.
