Thelma C. Smith, 73, of Stanton, died Sunday, June 19, 1994 in Carson City.  She
was born Aug. 26, 1920 the daughter of John Kauffman and Edna Vandecar in
Clarksville.  She married Alton Smith in 1938 in Saranac.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Smith of Holly, Mich. and David Smith of
Greenville; three daughters, Lorraine Youngman of Mississippi, Linda Rowley
Perrinton and Rose Cogswell of Greenville; two brothers, Sam Kauffman of Ionia
and Edward Kauffman of Alto; three sisters, Arwilda Butcher and Kate Melle both
of Saranac and Pearl Fenstemacher of Wyoming; 19 grandchildren; 16
great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976; one son,
Harry Smith and three sisters, Reva Smith, Mildred Payne and Artricia Enkeman.

Visitation will be Monday from 7-8:30 p.m.  Funeral services will be at the Lake
Funeral Home Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen Klink officiating.  Burial
will be in Easton Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
