Ionia Sentinel Standard, 4 Mar 1965

A resident of Ionia county for many years, Afton Smith, 91, of 303 Miller
street, South Ionia, died Tuesday at Ionia County Memorial hospital.  He had
been a patient there the past two months.  Mr. Smith was born June 4, 1873 in
Crawford county, Pennsylvania but lived most of his life in Ionia where he was a
farmer and blacksmith and was a member of the old Mission church in Ionia.  His
wife, Mary, died in 1954.

Surviving him are one son and two daughters, Charles Smith of Lansing, Mrs.
Electa Malokofsky and Mrs. Greta Krause, both of Ionia; 10 grand, 20 great and
three great-great-grandchildren.

The Rev. John Tennyson will conduct funeral service at Stone-Kauffman funeral
home Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock.  Burial will be at Highland Park cemetery.
