Smith, 66, who was found dead at her Palo home Thursday evening. Ionia County Sheriff Peter VanVleck and Coroner Dale Kauffman investigated and attributed death to a coronary attack. Mrs. Smith was born December 1, 1896 in Sidney township, Montcalm county and had been a resident of Palo most of her life. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. William E. McClow. She was a member of the Methodist church in Palo and the widow of Gorham Smith, who died in 1953. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Pearl Lee Smith, of Detroit; two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Goldie Tauner, Mrs. Sylvia Vibber and Mrs. Leona Gibson of Ionia. Arrangements were by the Stebbins Funeral Home at Sheridan. Burial was in Palo cemetery. The Rev. Harvey Johnson officiated. Services were to have been held in the Methodist church but were moved to the Baptist church due to a heating plant failure.
