He was born June 8, 1928, in Cascade, Mich., the son of Willard and Anna (Dalstra) Smith. Floyd married Marlene Harrington Sept. 30, 1950, in Grand Rapids. He served in the Navy during World War II on the USS New York, USS Atlanta and USS Los Angeles. Floyd was an avid golfer and was a member of Morrison Lake Country Club. He retired from General Motors. He loved to watch the grand kids and great grand kids in sports and racing. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Marlene Smith of Saranac; daughters, Sharon (Craig) Adgate of Saranac and Roxanne (David) Lichte of Lowell; grandchildren, Becky (Tim) Sloan of Saranac, Jason (Annie) Conner of Ionia, Alisha (Jake) Johnson of Saranac and Ryan Adgate of Saranac; 11 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and one sister Elsie Copron of Lowell." He was preceded in death by three brothers, Erwin Smith, Alan Smith and Richard Smith and two sisters, Gladys Bowen and Darlene Klahn. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac with Pastor Becky Poor officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Saranac Fire Department or Saranac Community Schools Boys Athletics.
