Mrs. Hettie Smith, aged 88, passed away Monday at Blodgett hospital in Grand 
Rapids where she had undergone surgery.  She had been a resident of Clark 
Memorial Home in Grand Rapids since 1949 and was in the hospital there for two 
weeks before having surgery.

As Hettie Minier, she was born in Noble county, Indiana, February 24, 1863.  
She was married to Fred Smith and lived for many years near Palo.  Her husband 
passed away in 1926.  She was a faithful member of the Central Methodist church.

They purchased a home on Leonard street and came to this city to live 27 years 
ago.  The only survivors are nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Fitzjohn Funeral Home, Thursday, today, at 2 
o’clock with Rev. Frederick M. Clough of Clark Memorial Home officiating and 
interment in Woodard Lake cemetery.
