Alice M. Smith, 89 of Ionia passed away Saturday afternoon March 3, 2012 at 
Heartland Health Care Center.

She was born on January 10, 1923 in Ionia the daughter of Herman and Caroline 
(Miller) Smith Sr. Alice graduated from Ionia High School with the Class of 
1940. She loved spending time with her family and friends at their cottage on 
Long Lake, enjoyed Tiger Baseball and wintering in Florida for over 30 years. 
Alice was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ionia. She was married on May 
19, 1945 in Ionia to Glen Dale Smith and he preceded her in 2008.

She was also preceded by her parents and one brother; Herman Smith Jr.

Alice is loved and survived by her children, Marilyn and Michael Harp, Carolyn 
and Stan Krycinski all of Ionia, Dave and Marlene Smith of Perry; her 
grandchildren, Jill and Brian Deurloo of Howell, Angela and Griff Lamphere of 
Ionia; her great grandchildren, Cody, Molly, Katelyn; and one sister Doris 
Dancer of Allegan.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday March 10, 2012 at St. John Lutheran 
Church, Ionia with Pastor David W. Bogda officiating. Committal prayers will 
follow in Balcom Cemetery, Ionia.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church. Instead of flowers 
please consider memorial contributions to St. John Lutheran Church or the 
Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the church or at 
Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding where funeral care has been entrusted.
